Today has been a bit of a step back. The A/C guy came really early, which was unexpected but I would rather him have the air conditioning off early morning instead of afternoon. But now the air conditioning doesn't seem to be working as well as it was before so I don't know what's happening.
That and the run down from the rest of the week made me more exhausted than I thought I would be.
This is when the flexibility of my new routine comes into play. I had rewritten today's schedule light but ended up not even having energy for all of that, so I picked the most important ones to me and focused on that.
I think this means that I can focus Monday through Thursday for most of the productivity time and give myself Friday through Sunday to rest and recoup.
I'm hoping that this set up will be the best for my body, but with chronic illness it's always a gamble.
I focused on resting and writing today. I outlined the rest of chapter three because I was STUCK lol. That really helped to let me see what the main points I had left to get from a to b.
This story is a bit of a challenge because it's almost set up like an anthology where each chapter is basically its own story, but not really because it's all N and his escapedes as he moves through history and families. Each chapter is its own time period, it's own location, its own family, and it's own set of issues and nonsense that I have to figure out.
Sometimes it flows like strong river rapids, slightly chaotic and out of control tell but fast and unrelenting. Then sometimes it's a drought, and that river is now only a tiny stream barely able to make its way down its muddy banks as fish flop around waiting for a rush of water. Thankfully those times are few and far between usually.
As someone who almost always has an onslaught of creative ideas, I had to come up with a plan to not loose any of those potential gems. I know most authors have a notebook that they carry around to throw ideas in but I might have taken that to the extreme.
I have a couple notebooks (one stories, one art, one comics, one miscellaneous, etc) those hold my little ideas that pop into my head. For each book it kind of branches off what happens next but for my books the next step is another notebook! Lol, no seriously. I take whichever idea really speaks to me or the idea that my brain starts fleshing out more and write it out in my outline notebook. I work out the plot, characters, and any other details I need, and sometimes like bits of dialogue or scenes. Really a brain dump of everything I think should happen in this story. Then I use that to take to my computer and write the first draft. Then a second draft and so on and so forth until I'm done with the book.
I haven't published anything yet but I have finished the draft of a couple books. Books that I think will be better later in my career and not as debut novels. I hope that this technique will keep pushing me to finish more and more while also giving me a back log of at least decent ideas that I can jump off of to make great stories.
I have so many notebooks that are filled with ideas and slowly but surely I will finish them.
