Day 248: Another Good Day

Published on May 18, 2026 at 12:19 AM

Today has been pretty great.

I went out on a nice errand with Phil and then visited with my family for a while. Then I came back home and wrote and sealed off my painting, with a new method which was a little nerve-wrecking but I was able to get that done and it looks really nice.

I will write a bit more tonight and I want to make oatmeal raisin cookies. I keep putting it off but man I really want to make them. Damn it, it is already really late, I'll just make them in the morning. I'm going to go to bed early and I want to get up early. I feel like I've been both not sleeping enough and sleeping far too much at the same time. I know I'm sick and all that, and that makes me sleep more but I want to be accomplishing more.

I feel that urge of not doing enough and just wanting desperately to accomplish more. But I also have to not push myself too hard or shame myself because then it gets worse. I just have to try and chill and then change one thing a little at a time until I get better again.

So, right now I'm going to try getting up earlier again. I'll also set up my coffee machine tomorrow too. I haven't felt the need for it but if I make myself get up and have some coffee and get some shit done. All through out the day. I know I can, as long as I pace myself. And hopefully it's not too hot tomorrow, because whether I like it or not, that really affects my productivity for the day.

I finished my cat painting today and now I can finish my substack essay about its process. I took a bunch of pictures so that will be fun to add. Tomorrow, I think I'll start my big canvas, at least start with the under sketch. It's the biggest canvas I've worked with yet so I'm excited and super nervous lol. Oh well, I know it will be fun to create no matter what the outcome looks like.

OH I found my first pea on my plant today! It's actually decent sized already! I think I'm going to use those to cultivate more seeds from that plant because it has been the strongest with the most flowers AND the first to create vegetables. That seems like a great plant to continue the lineage of. I'm so excited about it. I can't believe how amazing this garden has been going. Even if things aren't perfect, they are still going well, very well. My tomatoes are getting a little scorched from the heat but I don't know how to fix that. I water them but not overly because I don't want things to drown either. I'll have to do a little research and see if there is something I can do. But some of my marigolds are starting to shoot up flowers too. Little buds right now and they are SO cute! It's so crazy to me that all of these plants are growing from my hands because everyone told me that I wouldn't be able to do this. HA! My first garden is a success because I've been consistent and loving with it. Oh and I just found another little jar of seeds that I have been gathering over the years so I'm excited to try and propagate some of those too.

Well, I need to go do some brainstorming and other writing and then I will go to sleep. This isn't very early anymore but if I fall asleep before 4am, it'll be better than the current usual.
