Day 386: An Eventful Day

Today has been pretty good. Well, except I had to give my son an impromptu hair cut.

We found lice in his hair and have no idea where it came from. And he had long, long hair and it is suuuuuuuuuper thick, so thick it's hard to get a brush or comb through most of the time. I had to cut it up pretty short but I LOVE how it looks. I wish he'd let me take a picture of him. It's a total 90's hair cut. Like the kid from Treasure Planet and the guy from Tangled mixed together. I think he looks so handsome. It's weird to see though because he's had his hair long for years and years. I wonder if he's going to keep it like this or if he'll end up just wanting it to be long again. I've let him decide his hair since he was like seven so it's not going to be any different now lol.

I have been really enjoying the save the cat book. I'm at page 90 now which makes me happy. I'm taking a bunch of notes too and it's going so well. I already made my first beat sheet outline today too. I did one for Surviving the Fall and now I have like GPS directions to writing this novel. It's pretty crazy. I did it a lot easier than I expected to as well. I want to make one for Cinder and Ash but I'm a little stuck in what would be the midpoint and the way my book is set up is slightly different placed beats though all the beats are there. I just read in the book that she said it's okay to do that but then I don't know how to write it out without following the little guide I made for the beat sheet.

I made some more notebook pages for me to use to do beat sheets, they are blank and grid but it is perfect for filling out the these kind of things. I can just have this little sheet next to me while I write and I'll breeze through this book in no time! I feel so excited about it too. I'll probably write a few more scenes in my one notebook tonight or tomorrow. It's helping a lot for me to write my zero draft scenes in a notebook and then first draft goes into a typed document. It's been super helpful so far and my scenes are coming out way more polished than usual. It's making me love writing again. I mean I always love writing but sometimes it wanes slightly, usually because I am stuck in a project. But this has been fun.

I enjoy reading the book and I'm going to enjoy using the way that it works in my writing. This is so awesome. I love reading lol
